1st quilt in the works (at a snails pace)

So as I've mentioned before I'm working on my first quilt from the I-spy squares I won from Obsessively Stitching.  The process is veeeerrrryyyy slow.  I think my biggest hang up is thinking of colors to pair up with the squares.  Most of the fabrics in my stash have patterns, and I guess in my mind solid colors should be the border.  I'm trying to keep an open mind by attempting some non-solid border fabrics.

This is gonna be a loooong project.  This is only nine squares out of 50 that my daughter has chosen out of the 88 received.  I'm pretty sure I'm gonna sneak some more of the squares in; depending on the final size of the quilt I decide upon.

Any quilters out there?  How long did it take you to make your first quilt?

  3. I think my first quilt came together in about two months. But it was the first time my machine was out in about 3years so I was powering on with renewed enthusiasm. But the truth is, a quilt remains a long project running in the background until you have a deadline. My deadline was a baby shower date, and even then, I was finalising it the night before. The latest quilt has been in progress about 4 months, but then again I *am* a new Mum, and I've sewn lots of little things in between. I prefer to have a deadline normally.
